Edwin Roberts (5-26-14) service 5-29-14

Edwin J. “Ed” Roberts, 89, of Counce, died Monday, May 26. He was born in Tishomingo County, Miss., the son of the late Lester Gray and Bertha Lee Faust Roberts. He was united in marriage to Oma Jean Davis, who survives.

Mr. Roberts served as a United States Marine from 1943 through 1946. He attended Counce Church of Christ. He had worked for Dixie Bridge Steel and Tank Company in Nashville.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Judy Faye Davis, Stanley J. Roberts and Jerry Roberts, all of Counce and Pamela Wells of Harvest, Ala.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vonda Ruth Smith; sisters, Lorene Huffsteckler and Thelma Wright and a brother, Junior Gray Roberts.

Services were held Thursday, May 29, in Counce with Paul Briley officiating. Burial followed at Shanghai Cemetery in Counce.
