Edwin Northcutt Edwin G. Northcutt, 87, of Savannah, died Monday, Oct. 22. He was born in Cerro Gordo, to the late Edgar Gibson and Lou Della Stewart Stanfield Northcutt. He married Mittie Westerfield, who survives. Mr. Northcutt served his country from 1943 to 1945, in the Navy. He worked for Tom Watkins Electrical Company as an electrician, then went to work for TVA as an electrician before going to work for Reynolds Aluminum. He was a 60-year member of I.B.E.W. 558 and past Grand Master, 32nd Degree, of the Greenhill Masonic Lodge and past Potentate of the Cahaba Shrine Temple in Huntsville, Ala. He was a member of the Florence Elks Lodge 820, a lifetime member of The American Legion, a member of The Eastern Star, Muscle Shoals Shrine Club and the VFW. Services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Tony Polk, Johnny Burns officiating. Burial followed in the New Harmony Cemetery at Savannah. In addition to his wife, Mittie Northcutt, he is survived by a sister, Mary Lou Cagle of Cerro Gordo community; four nephews, two nieces; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Edwin Gibson Northcutt Jr.; brothers, Guymon Northcutt, Glen Willis Northcutt, and Luther Hogan Northcutt; sisters, Joe Carolyn Northcutt and Frankie Nell Northcutt; half brothers, Otis Stanfield and Otho Stanfield.
