Edith Sharp Sego

Edith Sharp Sego was born in Scottsboro, Ala., on Dec. 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Oscar Hopkins and Mattie Ellen Gant Lusk.

On July 2, 1944, she was united in marriage to Eugene Sharp, who preceded his wife in death on June 7, 1986. On April 17, 1998, she was united in marriage to Fred Sego, who preceded her in death on April 10, 2007.

Mrs. Sego was a retired grocery merchant. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.

Mrs. Sego departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 13, in Savannah, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 12 days.

She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Godwin of Savannah; and one son, Tom Sharp of Corinth, Miss.; five grandchildren, Joe Sharp, Bob Sharp, Jan Sharp Hurley, Greg Godwin and Brent Godwin; seven great-grandchildren, Weston Sharp, Dalton Hurley, Grant Godwin, Noah Godwin, Graeme Godwin, Lindsey McCasland and Christopher Wood; one sister, Millie Belmundez of Denver, Colo.

Mrs. Sego was also preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Summerford and Jean Hammonds; and two brothers, Grover Lusk and Jack Lusk.

Services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
