Earl Hinkle (3-23-14) service 3-28-14

Earl Robert Hinkle was born April 26, 1939, in Conestoga, Pa., the son of the late Robert and Mildred Kreidler Hinkle.

Mr. Hinkle graduated from high school in Landisville, Pa., and entered the U.S. Army in 1955, retiring in 1978 as a master sergeant and later worked for Dynatron in Germany. He and Mrs. Hinkle moved to Enville in 1998, allowing her to return close to the place she was born and raised.

Mr. Hinkle was a very active member of the community, and a member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge No. 485 F&AM, the Memphis Valley Scottish Rite, Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Memphis, a member of the Muester Masonic Lodge No. 831 in Ulm, Germany, the American Legion Post 241, where he served as the finance officer, and was also very active in area community centers and loved to play music and entertain. He was a devout Christian who practiced the Presbyterian faith.

Mr. Hinkle departed this life Sunday, March 23, in Humboldt at the age of 77 years, 10 months, 25 days.

He is survived by his wife Alma Jean (Garity) Hinkle of Enville; a stepson, Paul Michael Ross of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Karen Hess of Lancaster, Pa.; a brother, Gene M. Hinkle of Pennsylvania, and two grandchildren, Amber Michelle Wesley and Robert Wesley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale E. Hinkle.

Services will be held Friday, March 28, at 3 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Johnson Chapel in Henderson with Bill Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery at Enville with military and Masonic honors at the gravesite.
