Dorothy Jean Wolfe, 91, of Savannah, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5. She was born April 6, 1932, in Hardin County, the daughter of the late John and Mary Hames Gray. This was a large family of four boys and five girls. She grew up in the Burnt Church community and attended White’s Elementary School.

On Aug.15, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Billy Wolfe in Corinth, Mississippi. Billy was a veteran just returned home from World War II. They lived in the Bucktown community near family members for many years.

Her fist job was at Savannah Button Factory and later she worked at Savannah Manufacturing Company.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing, embroidery and quilting. Each grandchild and great grandchild received a handmade quilt from “Granny Dot.”

She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church since 1957.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Billy of 76 years; children, Dianne Dennis (Mike), Mike Wolfe (Belinda) and Ricky Wolfe; grandchildren, Vance Dennis (Ashley), Lane Dennis (Beth), and Zach Wolfe (Tonya); and great-grandchildren, Walker Dennis, William Dennis, Woodson Walls, Annalane Dennis, Emmitt Dennis, and Kinsley Wolfe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; four sisters; an infant son, Billy Ray Wolfe; a granddaughter, Gina Dennis Walls; and great-grandson, Rhett Dennis.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah in Savannah, with Artie Rivers officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Savannah.
