Dorothy Jean White, 83, of Savannah, died on Thursday, Aug. 26.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Jesse W. and Myrtle Harrison Franks. She was united in marriage to L.C. White, who survives.

Mrs. White was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Mobile, Alabama, and a secretary for the Alabama Department of Transportation for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband, L.C. White of Mobile, Alabama; sons, Robert Charles Cook of Savannah, Jimmy Lynn Cook of Saraland, Alabama, Timmy Woodney Cook of Saraland, Alabama, Mickey David White of Sims, Alabama, and Terry Glen White of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; brother, Roger Dale Franks of Adamsville; sister, Mary Nell Roe of Sims, Alabama; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson; brother, Carroll Franks; and sisters, Betty Ruth Banks and Linda Joyce Hodge.

Services were held on Friday, Sept. 3, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Danny Whitehead officiating. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
