Doris Ann (Colvin) Stewart, 88, of Savannah, passed away and departed this life on Tuesday, July 23. She was born in Morristown, Tennessee, on Feb. 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Arthur and Edna Colvin.
Doris was united in marriage to Thomas Allen Stewart (her gift from God) on Dec. 5, 1952. They had three children, a son, Michael; and two daughters, Deneyse and Shawn. Doris’ family lived in Macon, Georgia, during the early years of her life before moving to Savannah, Tennessee in 1960.
Doris retired from the position of administrative officer at Shiloh National Military Park after 30 years of service. She also served as secretary at Sharon Baptist Church for eight years and secretary at Riverview Baptist Church for four years. She was a charter member of Riverview Baptist Church. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved, called her “Monos”.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jana Shree’ Stewart; grandson, Michael Allen Stewart Jr.; and two sisters, Betty Tucker and Barbara Purser.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Dana) Stewart, Deneyse Marshall, and Shawn (David) Lowder; grandchildren, Melody Stewart, Morgan Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Allie Stewart, Samantha Baxter, Ashley Williams, Jenny Lind (Rian) Ayra, Christian (Brent) Stricklin, Lane DeBerry, and Madison (Brandon) Whitlow; and great-grandchildren, Macey Stricklin, Emma DeBerry, Treyleigh DeBerry, Kaison Leibach, Killian Whitlow, Lilly Beth (Kirby) Gray, Eli Williams, Eliza Williams, Gracee Brown, Mason Iturbe, Jace Ayra, and Stella Ayra; and great-great-grandchildren, Miles Gray and Walker Gray.
Memorial services were held on Monday, July 29, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Allen Guyer officiating. Burial will followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
