Don Patrick Williams Sr., of Savannah, was born in Hardin County on Nov. 5, 1941, the son of the late Herbert and Mattie Elizabeth King Williams.

On Sept. 14, 1992, he was united in marriage to Margarett Eulene Roberts, who survives.

Don honorably served his country in the United States Army.  He retired after 30 years from Packaging Corporation of America where he worked as a planner.  Don was a member of Counce First Baptist Church. He had a strong love for his church and was very active in the construction of the new building.  He enjoyed wood working and playing bluegrass music. Don loved working with remote control airplanes and was a member of Skyblazer Remote Control Club.

He departed this life on Monday, Feb. 18, in Savannah at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 13 days.

In addition to his wife of 26 years, Margarett, he is survived by his children, Don Williams and his wife Melanie of Huntsville, Alabama and Tammy Doran and her husband Don of Savannah; grandchildren, Dalton Williams, Drew Williams, Rayford Jones, Dallas Jones, Ben Doran and his wife Emily and Sam Doran; great-grandchildren, Maverick Doran and Larcyn Doran; sisters, Linda Hamedain of Monticello, Florida and Jane Osborn of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Junior Williams of Savannah, Bill Williams of Michie, Ben Williams of Booneville, Mississippi, Roy Williams of Corinth, Mississippi and Steve Williams of Memphis.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by one infant sister, Mary Anne Williams.

Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m., at Counce First Baptist Church in Counce with Jimmie McChristial officiating. Burial followed in White Sulphur Cemetery  at Pickwick Dam.
