Don Rudy was born in Wichita, Kan., on Aug. 6, 1932, the son of the late John Jack Rudy and Margaret Farmer Harris.

On May 3, 1953, he was united in marriage to Almeda Fullwood, who survives.

Don retired as chief master sergeant from the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force Don served in the Korean War. In 1972, he moved to Hardin County where he was the Savannah city judge from 1972 until 1978 and Savannah city manager from 1972 til 1978. Don enjoyed repairing different things in his shop and he was an avid treasure hunter.

He departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 20 days.

In addition to his wife, Almeda of Savannah, Don is survived by his children, Ramona Wilbanks and her husband Michael of Hendersonville, Tenn., Wendy Carter and her husband Gray of Collierville, Tenn., Sonya Hopson and her husband Max of Savannah and Tonya Gunn and her fiancé Tom Lilly, of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Matthew Wilbanks, Mason Wilbanks, Kara Carter, Seth Godwin, Ashton Carter, Grayson Carter and Olivia Hopson; two great-grandchildren, Kyndal Wilbanks and Averi Wilbanks; one sister, Wanda Gibbs of Sedro Woolley, Wash.

Services were held on Friday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Clear Creek Cemetery at Stantonville, Tenn.
