David James Irvin, 66, passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, at Hardin Home, among family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. David was a United States Army veteran, who served his country proudly in the Vietnam War.
Surviving family members include sisters, Dorothy (Sam) Taylor, of Semmes, Ala., Hazel L. Irvin of Savannah, Marjorie (Jerry) Ashe of Selmer, Linda White and Russell Oldham of Florence, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lee Oma Irvin; and brothers, Ancil, Joe, Jimmy Ray and Kenneth Irvin.
Pallbearers were George Davis, Roy Strickland, Roy Copeland, Travis Copeland, Kenneth Frazier and Jeff Franks.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to George Davis and family, Roy Strickland and family, the Hardin Home staff for their kind services, and all of his friends and neighbors in the Cerro Gordo community.
Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Joe Paul Bryant officiating. Burial followed in the Piney Grove Cemetery at Savannah.
