Curtis Edwin Gobie, 69, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, May 5. It is with heavy hearts that his family announces his passing. Curtis was a man of strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Born on March 6, 1956, Curtis was a proud Marine, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. To his wife, Kim Renee Gobie, he was not just a partner but a true companion—her rock and her heart. From the moment she met him, it was his piercing blue eyes that captured her heart. Their bond was one of enduring devotion, filled with mutual respect, and unwavering support. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he was a pillar of strength for his children; Tara Mae Gobie, Sarah Renee Command, Tyler Richard Forrester, and Dylan Reede Forrester. He was also a cherished grandpa to 12 beloved grandchildren, whose lives were forever touched by his love and guidance. Curtis was known for his “tough love” approach as a father, always encouraging his children to be their best while standing by them through thick and thin. His commitment to doing what was right was a constant in his life, and it shaped the man he was—one who could always be counted on. In addition to his deep love for family, Curtis found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He spent countless hours enjoying chess, fishing, and immersing himself in the world of RPG games. Curtis will be remembered as a man who lived with integrity, loyalty, and a quiet strength. He may have been “badass” in his own way, but his heart was kind, and his actions spoke louder than words. He also shared a special bond with his fur baby, Buster Brown, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship. In lieu of a traditional memorial service, the family will be honoring Curtis’ memory by planting a tree in his name and spreading his ashes at one of his favorite fishing spots—places of peace that reflect the calm and enduring spirit he brought to those around him. Curtis’ legacy of love, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Curtis. You were truly one of a kind.
