Col. Danny Cortez Snodgrass (Ret.), 77, of Orange Beach, Alabama / Huntsville, Alabama, a loving and dedicated husband, father, son and friend, was called home to be with our Lord on Saturday, July 19. Danny was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1948. He was married to Barbara Jean Ballard Snodgrass of Huntsville (formerly of Chattanooga, Tennessee) and they have one son, Zachary Daniel Snodgrass. Danny has two daughters, Ginny Snodgrass Partan and Teri Lynn Snodgrass, from a previous marriage. Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Orange Beach, Alabama; son, Zachary (Zac); daughters, Virginia (Ginny) Snodgrass Partan and Teri Lynn Snodgrass; grandchildren, Isaac Maxwell Snodgrass, Oliver James Snodgrass, Riley Paige Snodgrass, Izabela Grace Partan, James Cody Cox, Charlotte Ashton Paige Gilpin, and Pricilla Lee White. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Dare Hurst Snodgrass and Homer Fieldon Snodgrass, and grandson, Clayton Hawthorne Partan. He graduated from Memphis State University with a Masters Degree in Education. He served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Colonel after 33 years of service. He retired from the U.S. Army civilian workforce after 19 years of service. Danny was a devoted grandfather, supporting his alma mater, the Memphis Tigers, he loved camping, RVing, and spending time at the beach. A funeral service, for Col. Danny Snodgrass, was held on July 26, at Crump First Baptist Church, in Crump, Tennessee, with David Phillips and Lynn Prather officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in Memory of Danny Snodgrass, to Crump First Baptist Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, or other charity of your choosing. Please continue to pray for the family as they mourn the loss of their husband, father, and grandfather.
