Clara Nell Haddock Reatherford was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Waynesboro, the daughter of the late James K. Polk “Pokie” Haddock and Arlie Pearl Atkinson Haddock. She died Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro at the age of 84 years, 3 months, 8 days.
Mrs. Reatherford, a homemaker, was married to Thomas Earl Reatherford on July 22, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2011. She was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church. For several years, they had made their home in Ypsilanti, Mich., prior to returning to Waynesboro.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Reatherford of Savannah and Terry Reatherford of Ypsilanti, Mich.; a daughter, Teresa Reatherford Folger of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren, Gayla Breitner, Greg Reatherford, Grant Reatherford, Stephanie Reatherford Bishop, Bryan Reatherford, Kevin Reatherford, Kellie Reatherford Yates and Tammy Folger Tipps; 14 great-grandchildren, Alyssa Anderson, Kelsey Breitner, Jacob Breitner, James Reatherford, Stephen Reatherford, Keirsten Reatherford, Ella Bishop, Maggie Bishop, Emma Reatherford, J.T. Reatherford, Sadie Reatherford, Cole Yates, Riley Yates and Kileyan Tipps and five great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ayden, Aubrey, Lucy and Emleigh.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Shaun Folger; two brothers, Clyde and Clifford Haddock and a sister, Mazel Haddock.
Services were held Saturday, March 1, in Waynesboro with Kent Collier and John Blackwell officiating. Burial followed at Waynesboro Memorial Gardens.
