Chris Sherer

Chris Alexander Sherer was born on Sept. 30, 1945, in Manheim, Germany, to Gunter Hofmann and Elfriede Hofmann Geborene Jekel. On Oct. 14, 1962, she was united in marriage to Roy Alexander who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2006. She was united in marriage to Hollis Sherer on April 9, 1999, who preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2008.

She lived in Florence, Ala., in the Central community for 25 years and in Hardin County for 1-1/2 years.

Chris attended Mt. View Church of Christ in Hardin County and Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah. Chris was a certified preschool teacher and worked at Northwest Alabama Preschool, and she was also a homemaker. She loved to cook, work in her yard and enjoyed cleaning.

Chris departed this life on Tuesday, April 16, at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 17 days.

She is survived by her son, Ken Alexander and his wife Marty of Savannah; two grandchildren, Christian Alexander Stricklin and Kendra Alexander; and one great-grandchild, Macey Stricklin; and a brother, Gerd Hofmann of Mannheim, Deutschland.

Services were held on Thursday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with David Baker officiating. Burial followed in the Shady Hill Cemetery at Hardin County.
