Charles Ray Banks, 83, of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, August 7. He was born in Hardin County on January 7, 1942, the son of the late William Clyde and Rudy Wilkerson Banks. He was married to the late Betty Barton on April 14, 1990, at Old Union Church, who preceded him in death. He worked at Harmon’s Worm Ranch, Hassell Lumber Company, Ace Hardware, and Aqua Glass. Charles is survived by his brother, Ancil; and sister, Mary Rose. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Loyd, Bobby, and Jerry Allen; sisters, Faye Miller and Janice Jones; brothers-in-law, Paul Miller and Jerry Rose; and sister-in-law, Frances Banks. Charles was of the Church of Christ belief. He read the Bible every night. He was a big believer in prayer. Memorial services were held on Sunday, August 10, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, Tennessee, with Charles Linam officiating. Burial followed at Old Union Cemetery in Adamsville, Tennessee.
