Charles Edward Johnson, 67, of Savannah, died on Monday, Sept. 30, the Hardin Medical Health and Rehabilitation Center in Savannah. He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late James Orbie and Mae Frances Sparks Johnson. He was united in marriage to Mary Katherine Wynn, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Johnson, at one time, lived in Linden, Tenn. and was a member of the Robert’s Chapel A.M.E. Church. He worked for the Dana Corporation and for the Brown Shoe Company. After returning to Hardin County, he worked as a cook for the Hardin Medical Center.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. He is survived by two children, Gary Wayne Johnson of Savannah and Monica Lynn Johnson of Jackson, Tenn.; three grandchildren; three siblings, Jimmy Johnson and Mildred Johnson, both of Nashville and Steve Johnson of Linden, Tenn.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannie Lee Sanders.
