Charles Gattis
Charles Wayne Gattis, 89, of Crump, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, in Savannah, the son of the late Joseph Sylvester “Judge” and Ethel M. Brown Gattis.
Charles spent his early years farming before joining the U.S. Navy in 1955.He was united in marriage to Loudean Tidwell, who preceded her husband in death.
He is survived by his son, Gary Gattis; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sons, Christo+pher Allen Gattis and Jeffrey Charles Gattis; sisters, Ruth Loraine Gattis, Alta Mae Gattis Bryson, Millie Pauline Gattis Linville, Kathryn Faye Gattis Phillips, and Patricia Ann Gattis Hill; and brothers, William Sherrill Gattis Sr., James Harry Gattis, Carl Ray Gattis, and Billie Gene Gattis.
Memorial services were held on Friday, June 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Daniel Holt, Michael Gibbs and Gene Hanna officiating. Burial followed at Crump Cemetery in Crump.
