Cecil Franks, age 68, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, July 5, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m., at Heritage Funeral Home with Mark Elliott officiating. Burial followed at Polk Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Born in Savannah, Mr. Franks was the son of the late James Ray and Berdie Marie Franks. He was a veteran in the Army and served in Vietnam for two years. He was the owner and operator of Franks Sheet Metal. Mr. Franks always enjoyed working and constructed sheet metal for 50 years. He loved cars and was a big NASCAR fan as well. Being an honest man, Mr. Franks was always straight forward with anyone he ever met. He also enjoyed gospel music.
Mr. Franks is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Nila Franks of Columbia; son, Cecil Franks of Columbia; daughters, Cinnamon (Tim) Turrentine of War Trace and Bridget (Tracy) Rose of Savannah; brothers, Jerry (Faye) Franks and Troy (Judy) Franks, both of Savannah; sisters, Edie Hughes of Savannah, Tammy Franks of Savannah, and Helen (Bill) Mitchell of Stantonville; grandchildren, Dallas McDonald and Leela McDonald, both of Shelbyville, and Jaxon Rose and London Rose, both of Savannah; special niece and nephew, Patricia Stricklin and Chris Hughes; a special little friend, Kayden “Shorty” Patterson; along with 11 nieces and 10 nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his sister, Rachel Stricklin; and his brothers, EJ and Bobby Franks.
Pallbearers were John Riley, Tim Harris, Chris Hughes, Darryl Judd, Don Willis and Paul Gibson. Honorary pallbearers were employees of General Homes in Columbia and Danny Auville Builders in Culleoka.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
