Carrie Fondren Carrie Mae Young Fondren, 89, of Savannah, died Friday, Feb. 19, at the Hardin Medical Center Health and Rehabilitation in Savannah. She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Oliver and Nora Blanch Reed Young. She was united in marriage to Frank Fondren, who survives. Mrs. Fondren was a machine operator for Brown Shoe Company. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Services were held on Sunday, Feb. 21, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Greg Young, Will McReynolds officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah. In addition to her husband Frank of Savannah, she is survived by one son, Donnie Fondren of Savannah; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Gillham and Beulah Jean Fondren, both of Savannah; one brother, Travis Young of Savannah. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one granddaughter; one brother, R.V. Young; and one sister, Irene Spivey.
