Carolyn Haggard Henderson, of Savannah, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 22 days.

She was born in Hardin County on Feb. 24, 1942, the daughter of the late Jamie Martin and Rachel Ann Melson Haggard. On Jan. 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to Edward Leon Henderson, who preceded her in death on April 11, 1996.

She could play the piano by ear and as one of her friends put it “She could make those keys talk!” Carolyn later became a faithful member of Love and Truth Church in Savannah, and always enjoyed going to services. While working for Foursquare Church, she also employed at The Hardin County Bank and was one of the five original employees who opened the bank in 1973. Carolyn was also a part of the “Do Nothing Club” that would always meet early mornings at McDonald’s.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Stan Henderson and his wife Melinda Mae of Akron, Ohio; grandson, Edward Dillon Henderson; and two nephews, Lynn Frazier and John Frazier.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Jamie Nell Frazier.

Services were held on Friday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Rev. James Fitts and Kevin Scott officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Hermon Cemetery at Savannah.
