Callie May (10-23-12) service 10-27-12

Callie Tidwell May, 98, of Savannah, died on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the age of 98 years, 8 months, 13 days.

She was the daughter of the late Joe and Lillie Ables Tidwell. She was united in marriage to Ray May, who preceded her in death.

Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Michael Roach officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

Mrs. May graduated from Memphis Beauty College, then opened her own business, Callie’s Beauty Shop. She was a former Cub Scout den mother, a member of the Business and Professional Women, and First Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by a son, Tom May of Savannah; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny May; a grandchild; sisters, Ollie DeCourley, Flora DeCourley and Nita Arendall; brothers, Coy, Harry and Nelson Tidwell.
