Bobby Wayne Hopper, 71, of Jackson, Tenn., died Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.

He was born in Hardin County at Sardis and grew up at Jacks Creek, the son of the late Leonard Sidney and Vesta Hensley Hopper. He was married to Joyce Ann Morris, who preceded him in death. He then married Rebecca Raines, who survives.

Mr. Hopper entered the U.S. Navy in 1961 and served four years active duty in Vietnam. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass for 18 years in Jackson and then Cub Cadet in Brownsville. He was a Mason, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Beech Bluff Baptist Church.

Funeral Services were held Friday, Aug. 13, at Shackelford–Casey Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Dyer officiating and burial was in Lebannon Cemetery in Hardin County. Arrangements by Shackelford–Casey Chapel, Henderson, Tenn.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ruth Raines Hopper of Jackson, Tenn.; a daughter, Doris Ann Dickerson of Jackson; three step-daughters, Connie Travis of Medina, Sandra Peddy of Trenton and Denise Lopez of Bethel Springs; a step-son, Curtis Raines of Alamo; five sisters, Ruby Courdle of Jacks Creek, Jean Anderson of Jacks Creek, Faye Stone of Illinois, Shirley Mae Butler of South Carolina and Betty Jones of Illinois; two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren and also three great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
