Bobby Gillon Bobby Eugene Gillon, age 78, of Grenada, Miss., died Sunday, Feb. 27, at his home. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at the National Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Smith officiating. Pallbearers were Clay Scott, Trey Vance, Chop England, Ben Gillon, Rob Gramling, James Blaylock, John Daniel Gillon and Robert Connerly. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada. Bobby was born on Aug. 24, 1932, in Grenada County to the late Samuel Edgar Gillon and Montye Holland Gillon. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Grenada. Bobby was a farmer and was once selected as the Outstanding Young Farmer. Bobby was a founder of the Gore Springs Baptist Church and also served as president of the Deacons Council at the First Baptist Church in Grenada. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Campbell Gillon of Grenada, Miss.; one sister, Joy G. Stroud of Grenada; two brothers, Earl L. Gillon and Tom E. Gillon, both of Grenada; two daughters, Brenda G. Bidwell and her husband, Gene, of Itta Bena, and Cindy G. Haffly and her husband, Steve, of Counce; three sons, Sam E. Gillon and his wife, Lucretia, of Grenada, John F. Gillon, and his wife Shay, of Grenada, and David W. Gillon, and his wife Nan, of Blythe, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Itta Bena Mission Fund or the Baptist Children’s Village. National Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
