Bobbie Jean Holmes

Bobbie Jean Holmes was born Dec. 20, 1931, in McNairy County, Tenn., the daughter of the late Marshall Floyd and Cora Elizabeth Browder Emmons.

Mrs. Holmes was united in marriage to Bobby Holmes on March 26, 1949. She was a member of the Union Grove United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Democratic Party. Mrs. Holmes was recently named Queen of McNairy County Health Care Center. She loved to sing with the Union Grove Singers and had performed on the TV station in Adamsville many times.

Mrs. Holmes departed this life on June 1, in Selmer, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, 12 days.

She is survived by her husband Bobby Holmes of Selmer; two daughters, Donna J. Williams of Memphis, Diane Holmes Fowler and husband Mike of Savannah; a son, Wes Holmes and wife Dana of Selmer; seven grandchildren, Sara Williams, Jonathan Fowler, Jeanne Anne Love, Hunter Fowler, Andrew Holmes, Zack Holmes, Maggie Holmes; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Jack Fowler; three brothers, Ralph Emmons, Wes Emmons and Tommy Emmons all of Alabama; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs Holmes was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtie Bratton and Artie Carter; three brothers, Billy Joe Emmons, Mac Emmons and Gillus Emmons.

Services were held on June 4, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer with Helen Hamilton and Steven Webb officiating. Burial followed in the Union Grove Cemetery.
