Billy Joe Mitchell, 78, of Savannah, died on Thursday, Sept. 19. He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Porter Harris and Josie Talley Mitchell. He was united in marriage to Tonaleah Burns who survives.
Mr. Mitchell was self employed as a handyman. He had also worked at Parris Manufacturing. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah. Burial will follow in the Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
In addition to his wife, Tonaleah Mitchell of Savannah he is survived by a son, Timothy Shane Mitchell of Savannah; daughters, Kimberly Harville of Enville, Amanda Scott and Peggy Ann Mitchell, both of Savannah; three grandchildren, and a sister, Irene Jarrett of Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Lynn Mitchell; grandchildren, Billy Mitchell, Jr. and Tiffany Elaine Mitchell; brother, J.P. Mitchell; and sisters, Peggy Gean Chessor and Charlene Jones.
