Billy Christopher Billy Earl Christopher was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Adamsville, the son of the late Earl Glen and Hazel Surratt Christopher. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Plunk, who preceded him in death on July 11, 1975. On March 3, 1990, he was united in marriage to Joyce Hurley, who survives. Mr. Christopher was a 1957 graduate of Adamsville High School. After graduation, he attended college in Memphis, becoming an electrician. He was employed by Harwood Manufacturing, working in parts, maintenance, and as a mechanic supervisor. He retired from Aqua Glass/Masco Bath in Adamsville, where he worked in many areas, including senior purchasing agent, maintenance, cleanup, parts, guard shack supervisor, and receiving supervisor. Mr. Christopher was the world’s biggest University of Memphis basketball fan. He was a member of the University of Memphis Rebounders Club and The Striped Tigers, and enjoyed traveling all over the country following the basketball team. Above all, he loved his family and friends. Mr. Christopher had formerly served his State and Nation as a member of the Tennessee National Guard and the United States Army, and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Christopher departed this life on Wednesday, March 7, in Adamsville, at the age of 72 years, 6 months, 3 days. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joyce Hurley Christopher of Adamsville; three daughters: Rhonda Browder and husband Steve of Selmer, Monica Stricklin of Adamsville and Kimberly McLin and husband James of Savannah; six grandchildren: Cody McLin and wife Kaitlyn, Christopher McLin and wife Michelle, Benji Smith, Bayli Smith, Lindsey Kee and husband Scott, and Whitney Garrard; two great-grandchildren, Luke McLin and Tayte Kee; a sister, Glenda (Christopher) Wilson of Adamsville; sisters-in-law Dottie Dancer Hubanks, Mary Bess Tidwell, and Bettie Maness Jordan; sister-in-law Carolyn Bizzell and husband Albert; cousins Terry Christopher, Tuffy Christopher, Jo Neal Christopher, Lori Hendon, Betty Boroughs, Jerry Christopher, Penny Christopher, Ronnie Christopher, and Danny Christopher; nieces Angie Pickett, Sharon Brummer, Holly Surratt, and Monica Hathcock; nephews Philip Page, Bill Maness, and Stacy Dancer; and many extended family and friends. Services were held on Sunday, March 11, at 2 p.m., at Good Hope Baptist Church in Adamsville with Billy Joe Stewart, Marvin Jackson, Tim Elrod officiating. Burial followed in the Adamsville Cemetery at Adamsville.
