Betty Frances "Granny" Staggs Garrett, 63, of Waynesboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

She was born in Waynesboro, the daughter of Gladys Marie Ray Staggs Sherrill and the late Taylor Edna Staggs. She was united in marriage to Robert Andrew Garrett, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Garrett was a retired machine operator from Texas Boot, was of the Baptist faith, and was co-operator of Nanny’s and Granny’s T’s in Waynesboro.

Services were on Friday, Sept. 23, at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro with John McDonald and Roseann Teeftaller officiating. Burial followed in the Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceburg Highway.

In addition to her mother, Gladys Sherrill of Clifton, she is survived by a daughter, Vickie Morrow of Waynesboro; sons, Michael, Robert "Buddy" and Daniel all of Waynesboro, Nathan of Marvel, Ark., and Scottie Garrett of Florence, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; a brother, John Elbert Staggs of Clifton; sisters, Freddie Gray and Shirley Morrow, both of Waynesboro, Glenda Ponds of Adamsville, Mary Copeland of Savannah, Faye Greer of Clifton.

She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Roy D. Sherrill; and brother, Samuel Taylor "Bodie" Staggs.
