Barbara Ann Gumuski Yanush, 79, of Sardis, died on the morning of Wednesday, March 11, after an extended stay at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
She was born in Peru, Illinois, on Sept. 18, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anne Gumuski.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Peter, whom she married on Nov. 17, 1951. She is also survived by her sons, Steve and Pete; daughters, Peggy, Nancy, Lisa and Amy; a brother, Richard; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was employed at Cookie Kingdom, Days Inn and the Pioneer Seed Corn Company. She spent many years working alongside her husband on their farm in Tonica, Illinois. She was a loving wife and mother. She and Peter retired to Sardis in 2005.
Some of her favorite hobbies included gardening, working in her yard, reading, going to flea markets and thrift shops, playing cards, and watching sports on TV, especially tennis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph; her daughter, Mary; grandson, Adam; granddaughters, April and Amy; and her brother, Richard.
As per her request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will be at a later date.
