Audrah Pope Daniel was born on Feb. 9, 1927, in Tallapoosa, Ga. to the late Chester Talmadge and Lena Price Pope. On Sept. 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Vernon Lee Daniel, who survives.
Mrs. Daniel grew up in Geraldine, Ala. and later moved to Nashville, where she graduated from the Nashville Business College. She also lived in Detroit, Mich., San Diego, Calif., Chattanooga, Tenn. and Pensacola, Fla., before moving to Savannah. While living in Nashville, she was employed by the National Life Insurance Company as a bookkeeper and also for the Grand Ole Opry as a payroll clerk. While living in San Diego, Calif., during the Korean War, she worked as a secretary for the United States Marine Corp. After moving to Savannah, she worked as the secretary for the First Baptist Church for over twenty-six years.
She enjoyed volunteer work including hospice care, child care, Meals on Wheels, as well as helping individuals whenever she could. She was also a Bible scholar, who loved nature and animals.
Mrs. Daniel departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the age of 86 years and 8 months.
In addition to her husband, Vernon L. Daniel, she is survived by two daughters, Gloria Daniel Herrin and her husband, Walter of New Johnsonville, Tenn. and Pamela Daniel of Savannah; two grandchildren, Daniel Lee Herrin and his wife, Amy and Paula
Michelle Herrin-Stephens and her husband, Shaun; six great-grandchildren, James Walter Bowden, Megan Elizabeth Bowden, Emily Katlyn Herrin, William Quinton Herrin, Xander Stephens and Shanna Stephens; two sisters, Sarah Ophelia Pope Johnson
of Woodstock, Ga. and Jimmie Lee Pope Lyles of Hixson, Tenn.
