Arthur M. Franks Arthur M. Franks was born in Hardin County, on July 25, 1930, the son of the late Neal McKinley and Ada Melson Franks. On July 25, 1961, he was united in marriage to Lillian Lee Cummings, who survives. Mr. Franks was a timber cutter and had lived in Gillis Mills. Mr. Franks departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 2, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, 8 days. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Timmie Lane Franks of Savannah; a daughter, Debbie Lynn Franks of Savannah; two sisters, Etta Sherrill of Houston, Tenn. and Susie Stricklin of Savannah; two grandchildren, Wesley Blake Franks and Ayla Chase Franks; a step-granddaughter, Nicole Williams. In addition to his parents, Mr. Franks was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar Franks and James Franks; three sisters, Edith Holt, Jewel Wilkerson, and an infant sister; two half-sisters, Katherine Johnson and Mae Sherrill; a granddaughter, Megan Paige Franks. Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Willie Paul Kilburn officiating. Burial was in the Germany Branch Cemetery at Hardin County.
