Annie Hinton

Annie Hinton, 78, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Florence, Ala.

She was born in Cartersville, Ga., the daughter of the late Charlie Lee and Mary Ella Parker Tidwell. She was united in marriage to Gordon L. Hinton, who survives.

Mrs. Hinton was retired from the Hardin County School District where she served as a cook for several years. She was also actively involved with the Walnut Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of Second Creek Church of Christ.

Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Second Creek Church of Christ in Savannah with Danny Pettus, Jim Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Centenary Cemetery in Wayne County.

In addition to her husband, Gordon Lindsey Hinton of Savannah, she is survived by four children, David Hinton Sr. of Florence, Ala., Larry Hinton of Lutts, Anthony Hinton of Collinwood, and Shelia VanFleet of Savannah; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cliffie Owens, Francis Tidwell, Ella Samson, Reba Cordell; and one brother Gordon Tidwell.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jasper Isaiah Tidwell; one sister, Mamie Elizabeth Worley.
