Alice Margaret Franks Paulk, 103, and native Hardin countian, passed away peacefully Aug. 28, at McKendree Village in Hermitage, Tenn., 15 days before her 104th birthday.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Calvary United Methodist Church where she has been a member 65 years. Dr. Peter Van Eys and Rev. Laurie Hynson officiated; her grandchildren served as pallbearers. Visitation was held Tuesday evening, Sept. 3, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Master’s Commons at Calvary UMC, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning before the Service. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Road, Nashville.
Alice was born at Walnut Grove, Hardin County, on Sept. 12, 1909. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Orr Paulk, parents Jesse N. and Lura Mangum Franks, and nine siblings.
A homemaker, she is survived by daughters, Elba Ann Cole, Lois McConnell (Bob)and Aleeta Christian (Floyd); eight grandchildren, including Paul Cole (Joanne Miller) and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Thelma Lockhart (Lewis) and Dymple Franks of Franklin, Tenn.
