William "Pee Wee" Perry

William "Pee Wee" Perry was born in Hardin County on June 9, 1929, the son of the late William Taft and Bertha Lee Franks Perry.

On Aug. 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Gloria June Duren, who survives.

Mr. Perry was the retired co-owner of P&C Texaco where he was a mechanic. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War in transport. Mr. Perry also worked for Brown Shoe Company, General Electric, Crounse and Phillips 66. He was an elder of Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a member of the Savannah Masonic Lodge and past patron of Savannah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Perry loved to camp, garden and play with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed doing woodwork, attending church and volunteering at the Hardin County Fair.

Mr. Perry departed this life on Thursday, June 27, in Savannah at the age of 84 years and 18 days.

In addition to his wife Gloria June of Savannah, he is survived by his daughter, Shelly June Perry Stricklin of Savannah; three grandchildren, Jeremy Dwight Stricklin and his wife Shelly, Jordan Lanier Stricklin Johnson and her husband Robert, and Joshua Lee Stricklin; five great-grandchildren, Lucas Riley Stricklin, Noah Dwight Stricklin, Lilly Grace Stricklin, Sawyer Brown Stricklin and Malachi Andrew Johnson; two sisters, Viva Sue Perry Story and her husband Bill and Nancy Carol Perry Curtis and her husband Allen, all of Savannah; one brother, Bobby Gene Perry Sr. of Savannah.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Lou Perry Reed; one brother-in-law, Jack Reed; and his grandparents, John Riley Perry, Margaret Lou Perry, John Baltie Franks and Lizzie Franks.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 2, at the Memory Gardens in Savannah, with Duwayne Pounds officiating.
