Thursday, Aug. 2 is Election Day.
Polls at all precincts in Hardin County are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Heavy interest in the races for Hardin County sheriff and mayor, along with a six-candidate contest for county clerk, appeared to drive a higher than usual turnout during the early voting period which ended Saturday.
Also among the races to be decided are who will be the next Republican and Democratic candidates for state governor.
According to the Hardin County Election Commission, there were 3,474 voters who went to the polls during early voting this year, versus the comparable election in 2014 which saw 2,931 ballots cast during early voting.
That’s an increase of nearly 28 percent.
