Sharon O’Neal

Sharon Ruth Hudspeth O’Neal was born in Corinth, Miss., on May 31, 1941, the daughter of Gladys Ruth Roland Hudspeth and the late Samuel Lee Hudspeth.

In December of 1962, she was united in marriage to Tommy Frank O’Neal, who survives.

Mrs. O’Neal was a retired social worker for Tennessee Department of Human Services. She also had been a kindergarten teacher for Hardin County Board of Education at Cerro Gordo School. Mrs. O’Neal graduated Summa Cum Laude at University of North Alabama. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. O’Neal collected music boxes and angels. Mrs. O’Neal was a organ donor recipient and was an advocate for organ donation.

She departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 5 days.

In addition to her husband, Tommy of Savannah, she is survived by two daughters, Connie Copeland and her husband Keith of Bartlett, Tenn., and Susan Buse and her husband Raymond of Savannah; three grandchildren, Cody Copeland, Brianna Copeland and Naomi Ruth Buse; her mother, Gladys Ruth Hudspeth of Savannah; one brother, Samuel Hudspeth Jr. of Lebanon, Tenn.

Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Josh Franks officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Saltillo.
