Ronnie Cummings was born in Savannah, Aug. 7, 1954, the son of the late Elvin Arnold Cummings and Virginia Jo Davis Bishop.

Ronnie held a Master of Vessels license issued by the United States Coast Guard. He was a boat captain for Magnolia Marine Transports for more than 11 years, where he worked on several boats including the Mark Shurden, Mr. Lampton, Valda and WW Crum. During this time, he was known as a colorful and energetic soul and was always a pleasure to be around. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge and enjoyed drag racing.

He departed this life Tuesday, March 25, in St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 59 years, 7 months and 18 days.

Ronnie is survived by his two sons, Michael and Matthew Cummings, both of Savannah; his fiancée Deanna Wilkerson of Savannah; three grandchildren, Dace, Bella and Teala Cummings; four sisters, Becky Schmitt of Trenton, Ill., Mary Jo Frazier, Debra Morgan and Gina Neill, all of Savannah; three brothers, Jerry Cummings of Watervliet, Mich., Lonny Cummings of Stevensville, Mich. and Nicky Cummings of Savannah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Cummings.

Memorial Services were held Friday, March 28, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating.
