Robert (Bobby) Livingston Hughes, 76, originally from Savannah, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, at his home in Alta Loma, California.

Bobby was born in Memphis, in October 1945. He graduated from Central High School and married Ruth Ann Worley, his high school sweetheart, in 1965. They honeymooned in California where they lived for 57 years.

Bobby was an industrial brick mason, but his life revolved around family and church. He loved camping, fishing, golfing, being outdoors with family and traveling. Bobby and Ruth’s most memorable trip was to Israel and Greece where they followed the footsteps of Jesus and Paul. He and Ruth also served in Marriage Encounter for nearly 20 years.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann (Worley) Hughes (also originally from Savannah); and his children, Robert Livingston Hughes II and his wife Kristina, Jennifer (Hughes) Dominguez and Jackie (Hughes) Sevier and her husband Scott. Bobby had seven grandchildren; Kelsey, Kaitlin, Robert III, Amanda, Eliana, Emma and Eden. He is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Jo Hughes of Savannah; nephew Keith Hughes; and niece Libby (Hughes) Ranney.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. James Vestal Hughes Jr; mother Catherine (Herring) Hughes; grandmother Louise (Kornegay) Herring; brother James Vestal Hughes III; and nephew James Vestal Hughes IV.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Seed Christian Fellowship, 9284 Baseline Road, Rancho Cucamonga, California, 91701, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 16. It will be live-streamed at theseedchristianfellowship.online.church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in honor of Bobby to The Seed Christian Fellowship, c/o 6450 Emerald St., Alta Loma, California, 91701.
