Rev. James L. Beaty

Rev. James L. Beaty was born in Fentress County, Tenn., on Jan. 21, 1928, the son of the late Lonzie and Opal Beaty.

On Dec. 30, 1947, he was united in marriage to Sue Davis of Savannah, who survives.

Mr. Beaty received his BS degree from Tennessee Tech and went on to receive his Master of Divinity from Duke University. He ministered at the Savannah First United Methodist Church. He had lived in Hardin County since 1972 and was an avid sportsman.

Mr. Beaty departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the age of 83 years, 9 months, 19 days.

In addition to his wife Sue, he is survived by a son, Jim Beaty and his wife Barbara of Pulaski, Tenn.; a daughter, Linda Wright and husband Jim of Savannah; four grandchildren, Margie Griffin, Jennifer Rose, Patrick Wright and Jonathan Wright; five great-grandchildren, Abby Griffin, Mitch Griffin, Emma Rose, Carolina Rose and Brittain Rose; two sisters, Georgia Barr and Dean Spradley and husband Wayne all of Perry, Fla.; a brother, Frank Beaty and wife Fay of Parker City, Ind.

Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Savannah with Rev. L.C. Trout, Dr. Ron Brown, Rev. Jim Wright, Rev. Jim Beaty and Rev. Marvin Champion officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
