Ray C. “Moose” Smith, 88, of Savannah, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Hal and Minnie Irvin Smith. He was united in marriage to Monette Austin Smith, who survives.

Mr. Smith had served his country honorably in the Army and was self-employed as a carpenter.

In addition to his wife, Monette of Savannah, he is survived by his children, Beverly Andrews, Lawanda Bain  and Buzzy Smith, all of Savannah; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Marie Bramhall of Memphis.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; sisters, Imogene Hosea and Robbie Jerrolds; and brothers, R.D. Smith and Jim Smith.

Services were held on Friday, Feb. 22, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Charles Pevahouse and Barbara McCoy officiating. Burial followed in  Plummer’s Chapel Cemetery at Savannah.
