Phillip Hughes
Phillip Lee Hughes was born Aug. 4, 1949, in McNairy County, the son of the late Joe Glen Hughes and Jessie Mae Phillips Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was a retired correctional officer with the state of Tennessee after 33 years of service.
He departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 17, in Nashville, at the age of 63 years, 6 months, 13 days.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Pamela Haywood Hughes of Stantonville, Tenn.; his daughter, Beth Smith and husband Tim of Middleton, Tenn.; his son Brian Hughes of Jackson, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Smith of Middleton, Tenn., Jamie Smith of Middleton, Tenn., and Logan Hughes of Jackson, Tenn.; two sisters, Glenda Hurley and husband Dean of Stantonville, Tenn., and Frances Boroughs of Adamsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes is preceded in death by a sister, Buton Glover; and two brothers, Jackie Hughes and Bobby Ray Hughes.
Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville, Tenn. Burial will follow in the Meeks Grove Cemetery at Stantonville, Tenn.
