Peggye Armstrong Peggye H. Armstrong, 75, of Parker, Fla., passed away Friday, June 4, at a local hospital. She was born in Savannah, and had lived in Bay County, Fla. since 1969. Peggye retired from Civil Service at Tyndall Air Force Base after 30 years service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the AmVets Post 2298, and the Red Hat Society. Peggye was Methodist by faith, and enjoyed fishing and traveling, especially to Biloxi, Miss. Peggye was the daughter of the late Bolden Rush Harrison, who was a Navy Medal of Honor recipient. The Savannah bridge over the Tennessee River–Harrison-McGarrity Bridge–is named in part in honor of Peggye’s father. She was predeceased, by her daughter, Debi Armstrong Whitcomb, and her siblings. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Joe Armstrong of Parker, Fla.; her children, Edmund Joe Armstrong II, and wife Pam of Panama City, Fla. and Michael Duane Armstrong of Kingsland, Ga.; her grandchildren, Joleen Armstrong, Krissy Brown (Freddie), Erica Lambert (Jeff), Bradley Stevens, Cassie Armstrong, Brandy Whitcomb (Derek Waldron), Jessica Armstrong, Sommer Armstrong, Nick Armstrong, and Edmund Joe Armstrong III; her great-grandchildren, Savannah Farris, Tyler Brown, and Cooper Waldron; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Larry Rogers, whom she grew up with. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., on Monday, June 7, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Panama City, Fla., with Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
