Max Ray Hayes Max Ray Hayes of Decaturville, Tenn., was born in Henderson County, Tenn., on March 13, 1936, the son of the late Onnie Orden and Icy Bell Hayes. On Oct. 4, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Edith Baker, who preceded her husband in death May 13, 2010. Max lived in Decatur County most of his life. He lived in Darden, Tenn., from 1969 to 1971 and Bath Springs, Tenn., from 1976 to 2009. Max worked for Decaturville Sportswear for 15 years. He was a member of Scotts Hill Pentecostal Church, Darden Pentecostal Church where he was the associate pastor and was also a member of Decaturville Pentecostal Church. Max enjoyed preaching and working at church. He departed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 12 days. Max is survived by one nephew, Jackie Leroy Bishop of Sardis, Tenn., and one niece, Malinda Patterson of Sardis. He is also survived by a host of friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, Max was also preceded in death by one brother, Clycle Orden Hayes. Services were held on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Dannie Kennedy, Gene Hanna officiating. Burial followed in the Lebanon Cemetery at Saltillo.
