Marian Wright (5-27-14) service 5-31-14

Marian Elaine Wright, of Savannah, formerly of Richmond, Va., was called to heaven Tuesday, May 27, just short of her 90th birthday. Marian was born in Hibbing, Minn., May 30, 1924. Her father, William Hill passed away when she was five. After her mother remarried, Marian moved to Sauk Centre, Minn., where she lived until she joined the Navy in 1943.

Marian met and married her husband Bill of 44 years while serving for our country. When her service ended, she stayed home to raise her family until Bill retired from the Navy. She returned to the workplace becoming personnel manager at Murphy’s and later working for the Virginia Department of Taxation. She then began her many years of volunteer work at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Va. She also spent many years volunteering at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond, Va. and served as president of the women’s guild there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Selma and William Pollack of Sauk Centre, Minn., her husband Willie Fulton Wright of Richmond, Va., her sister Monica Pollack of Vista, Calif., and brother, Bill Pollock of Buffalo, Minn.

Surviving are her sister, Margie Eggers of Minneapolis and her children, Willie F. Wright Jr of Chesapeake, Va., Mary L. Bird of Savannah, John J. Wright of Palatka, Fla., Joanne K. Jeska of Coppell, Texas, Shirley J. Herring of Dutton Va. and Warren W. Wright of Richmond, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Marian will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Savannah with Francis Chiawa officiating.
