Lynn Edward Tenry, 72, most recently of Allardt, Tennessee passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, of natural causes.
Born on January 12, 1954, Savannah, Tennessee, to loving parents Knox and Jo Tenry, Lynn is survived by sons Zach Tenry (Andi) and Ryan Tenry (Emily) of Knoxville. He has five grandchildren he adored – Charley and Zane Tenry and Mae Nixon, Knox, and Shep Tenry. Lynn is also survived by older brother Steve Tenry (Barbara) of Belton, South Carolina and sister, Pam Belcher (Don) of Nashville, Tennessee.
He spent most of his early life in the Morris Chapel and Savannah communities. After graduating from high school in 1972, he went on to pursue a degree in Accounting at The University of Tennessee at Martin. He farmed for several years (which he loved) after returning to Morris Chapel. With his dad (Knox) and brother (Steve), Lynn also established a swine finishing operation which they managed until changes in the farming and swine industries created a need for new opportunities. He then began a new career in the financial services industry in Savannah. Eventually that change led him to continue his professional pursuits in financial services in Knoxville. Life changed again and over the next several years he found himself in Defeated Creek, Tennessee and then back in Savannah. Eventually he established himself in Allardt, Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau, part of the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. There he found peace and love for the mountains and the wonderful people he called family who described him as “strong, loving and gentle, but fierce – one of a kind.”
Lynn was a loving uncle to his nephews and nieces. He deeply loved his family. His entire life he was passionate about his horses, enjoyed his guns, and loved the outdoors. His presence is sorely missed, and his loss is deeply felt.
A private family graveside service will be held to honor Lynn’s request.Lynn Edward Tenry, 72, most recently of Allardt, Tennessee passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, of natural causes.
