Lee Etta Cannon Rayfield, age 99, passed away Saturday, July 31, at Adams Place, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Before becoming a resident at Adams Place, she resided with her sister, Mary Lou Latimer in Milton, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John D. Rayfield; parents, Robert L. Cannon and Mary Etta Cannon; brothers, Carter Cannon, Granville Cannon, Landis Cannon, Edward Cannon; and sister, Jewel Warhurst.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Latimer of Milton, Tenn., several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Rayfield received her R.N. Degree from the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. It was there she met and married her husband, Dr. John D. Rayfield. They moved to Jacksonville, Ala., where she was a nurse in her husband’s medical practice for over 20 years. After retiring from their medical practice, they moved to Sylacauga, Ala., where Mrs. Rayfield was an active member of the Pilot Club and Medical Auxillary. She also volunteered with the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Sylacauga Beautification Committee and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, family members request that donations be made to The American Red Cross. The family would also like to thank all the staff at Adams Place for their kindness, compassion and care.

Graveside service was 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, in Evergreen Cemetery, Sylacauga, Ala.
