John Burkhead Johnny Lynn Burkhead, 59, of Milledgeville, died Saturday, March 13, at his home. He was born in Gibson County near Trimble, the son of Reba Virginia Thurmond Burkhead McCombs and the late Ambrose Franklin Burkhead. He was united in marrieag to Jannice Troop, who survives. John went to school at Hornsby and worked as a share cropper. At age 16 he moved to Illinois and started working with United Van Lines. He worked as a carpenter until he became disabled. He was a member of the Milledgeville Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be held today, 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Milledgeville Pentecostal Church with Jimmy Kelley officiating and burial will follow in Milledgeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Milledgeville Pentecostal Church after 9 a.m. on Thursday morning until service time. Shackelford–Casey Chapel, Henderson, Tenn., in charge of arrangements. In addition to his wife, Jannice Burkhead of Milledgeville, he is survived by four daughters, Tracey Burkhead, Julie Burkhead, both of Savannah, Christina Burkhead of Milledgeville and Amy Pruit of Houston, Texas; his mother, Reba McCombs of Milledgeville; four brothers, Thurman Burkhead of Illinois, Ronnie Burkhead of Savannah, Mike Burkhead of Illinois and Billy Burkhead of Fayette, Ala.; and four sisters, Nell King of Henderson, Kay Hart of Lexington, Darlene Raupp of Milledgeville and Martha Toney of Slidell, La.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose Franklin Burkhead and two brothers, James Burkhead and Carlos Ray Burkhead.
