Jerry Lynn Hodges, of Savannah, was born Aug. 21, 1948, in Waterloo, Alabama, the son of Wilma Lavell Tidwell and the late Ovid Vernon Hodges.
He was united in marriage to Linda Joyce Franks on Dec. 28, 1998.
Mr. Hodges was a carpenter, who specialized in cabinet making. He was of Freewill Baptist Belief. Jerry loved playing the guitar and singing. He also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and working with youth at church. He was a big “cut-up” who always wore a smile and loved to tell jokes.
Mr. Hodges departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Savannah, at the age of 69 years, 8 days.
He is survived by his wife Linda Joyce Franks Hodges of Savannah; a daughter, Samantha Regina Hicks of Savannah; three sons, Dillon Lynn Hodges of Savannah, Kerry Douglas Brown of Savannah, James L Lewis of Savannah; his mother, Wilma Lavell Tidwell Hodges of Savannah;  a sister, Virginia Diane Goodman of Middleton, Tennessee; a brother, Terry Glen Hodges of Savannah; 10 grandchildren, Sam, Heather, Adam, Shay, Brianna, Natalie, Bell, Jacob, Michaela and Dillon Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Ella, Eilynn, Mason and Kiersyn.
In addition to his father, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Robert Hodges; a sister, Carolyn Faye Hodges; and a brother, Ovid Eugene Hodges.
Services were held on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Carl Copeland officiating. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
