James Hunter “Pa” Staggs, 90, of Savannah, died on Saturday, March 2.

He was born in Leighton, Alabama, the son of the late John Raymond and Nellie Jewel Green Staggs. He was united in marriage to Eva Audine Price, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Staggs was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of Savannah. In his lifetime, he worked as a janitor at the Savannah Police Department for four years, Vulcan Materials in Cherokee, Alabama, and Smith Logging.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Katherine Welch of Decatur, Alabama, Linda McAnally of Savannah and Susan Cordova of Savannah; sons, Michael Dana Staggs and Keith Hunter Staggs of Decatur, Alabama and Junior White of Savannah; sisters, Lola Faye Clayton of Florence, Alabama, Loyce Marie Scott of Decatur, Alabama, Nellie Mae Thompson of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Billie Sue Seagle of Decatur, Alabama; brothers, Rufus Earl Staggs of Town Creek, Alabama, and Thomas Lyndon Staggs of Decatur, Alabama; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Lloyd Ray Staggs, Thomas Wayne Staggs and Wilburn White; brothers, Orlander Chuck Staggs, David Raymond Staggs, Clyde Walker Staggs, Malcomb Henry Staggs and George Edward Staggs; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Arnold.

Services were held on Monday, March 4, at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Savannah with Ernie Cordova and Jason DeShazier officiating. Burial followed in Hollands Creek Cemetery at Savannah.
