Hester Mae Tidwell Petty Steakley, 84, of Savannah, died on Thursday, Oct. 17. She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Jim and Maggie Worley Tidwell. She was united in marriage to Tom Petty who preceded her in death. She was then united in marriage to Herbert Steakley who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Steakley was a homemaker and was a member of The Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Thomas Petty officiating. Burial followed at Wesley’s Chapel Church Cemetery in Savannah.
She is survived by her children, Travis Petty “Grissom” of Scotts Hill, Tenn., Tommy Jack Petty, Mike Petty, Billie Ward all of Savannah, Bobby Petty of Corinth, Miss., Mary S. Petty, Della Mae Myers, Ricky Petty, and Tina McClain all of Savannah; brother, John Henry Tidwell of Savannah; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Petty; her second husband, Herbert Steakley; a daughter, Carolyn Melson; a son, Will J. Petty; sister, Susie Anderson and an infant sister.
