Hardin County Carl Perkins Center planning 'Field of Flags' to honor patriots

Posted

The Hardin County Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse is providing the opportunity for a display of American flags – “Field of Flags” – each one representing the life of a patriot, at First United Methodist Church on Main Street in Savannah, from Oct. 22 through Nov. 12.

The 3’x 5’ United States flags may can be purchased through the Hardin County Carl Perkins Center, whether it be for a war veteran, active military personnel, National Guard member, reservist, firefighter or law enforcement officer who serves in our community today, or in memory of those who have served in the military of their country, or someone who has lost their life in the line of duty.

“We are planning the Field of Flags as an annual display to honor those who serve and have served,” said Jessica Seaton, county manager for Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

Flags will be on an 8 foot pole with rebar for mounting. A display card will be placed at the base of each flag identifying the person being honored or remembered, and who has donated the flag.

Once the flag display has been removed, flags can be picked up by purchaser at the Carl Perkins Center, 60 Brazelton St., Unit 6, Savannah, during regular business hours. The pole will be retained for future use.
